Over the River and Through the Woods….

My family lived just a few miles from the LL Bean flagship store in Freeport, Maine.  Open 24 hours a day, LL Bean was a destination not only for tourists, but for locals as well.  My family was known, on perhaps more than one occasion, to stop by on the way to Thanksgiving dinner (over the river and through the woods) to fetch a hostess gift for Nana – or to sneak in Christmas Eve when we forgot a stocking gift.  Going to “Beans” always meant we could find just the right gift.  For anyone.  Anytime.

Needless to say, I am more than a bit tickled that the Home Store is featuring a variety of Tiny Olive gift bags this holiday season.

Pillowcase Upgrade…

When I was a kid, the cool thing was to use a pillowcase to use for trick or treating.

My own children used the cute little felted buckets for years.  Now, my girls are fast approaching double digits and the teen years, respectively, and they would like an upgrade.  Something between the woolen witch bucket and the pillowcase.  Thank heavens for them, I have been dying to conquer the string bag…therefore the Halloween Backpack was born.  Kids love it…adults wish they could wear it.

Alas these bags are made-to-order and are limited in availability…let us know if you can’t live without one!

Fall into this Plaid Daddy…

Nothing says fall like flannel plaid….

Plaid Daddy is my go-to gift bag for prezzies to be given between Sept-Dec.  It’s cozy, soft and oh so fitting for these chilly few months. Now…time to find just the right gifts to go inside!

Early Apples at the Farm

Not to rush the season, but I love apple picking.  And early apples are special…the sweet & tart…and picked in the summer sun.  Thanks to the family at Webber Farm for sharing your lovely orchard with us.

Into the Woods….

As I strolled through the Maine woods, I couldn’t help but think of this poem.  Always a good read…and then a pause for lingering thoughts or day dreams…

Enjoy!

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Tiny Olive to the North Pole!

This morning we are getting ready to ship our Tiny Olive Bags to the North Pole!  We have heard from Santa’s elves that they are going green….and still want to make packages look pretty!  So we are sending our fabric Tiny Olive gift bags to Santa, then on Christmas morning, he returns them filled with gifts (we include our tags too to make it easy for Santa to stay organized!)

This year we selected a special bag to ship – it is the original bag that inspired my grandmother to make bags nearly 40 years ago!

Cheers! – Deb
